Help in CS5 - 09-14-2011, 01:24 PM

Ok..what am I doing wrong. I have a new logo, and am trying to play with it to figure out how to make it look the best on photos. So the outside scrollie part, I wanted to change the brown to white, and also change the entire thing to a grey/black/white version.
I can't seem to get the outside layer (scrollie thing) to copy to the photo.

I link all the layers and move them to the photo, all the layers move but that one. Is it because it is a vector mask? Anyway to change that?

(mmm..hope you can see the layers in the photo)

Nope.. layers are too small to see.

It is really too small to work with, but is this what you had in mind? Naturally the background was changed to black so you can see the white scroll work.

I was afraid it would be too small. I kept working on it. I was using "flatten image" instead of "merge layers". Always thought they did the same thing when doing it to the entire stack of layers, but apparently not!! Thanks for your help Ben.

Is the ribbon part a separate layer?

turn off all the layers except for that.
select all
create a layer mask
create a group and apply the layer mask to it.
click in adjustments and use the color sliders to select a new color.

I was referring to the screen shot as being too small. What size image are you working on?

I am not sure if what I posted is what you were trying to accomplish or not, was it?

I am back at home, doped up.

If you send me the logo, I will make a easy to change color PSD file and send it to you.

However the colors may be completely off due to said doping.

But seriously, one of the reasons I love this forum, everyone is so helpful. And I love your new logo/watermark!

For logo design you should be in a vector drawing program like Illustator.
