I have a 18mp crop sensor Canon dslr, and I'm curious, just how far can you go enlarging a portrait?photo dough is advertising a sale on a 30x40. Can you go that big and get decent image quality? Is there a generally accepted rule? I understand iso has an impact, I'm just asking about sub 400 ISO.
Thanks!

Depends on intended viewing distance.

You shouldn't have a problem at 30x40.

As Tom said, viewing distance matters, as well as post-processing issues. I have done 20x30 and 24x36 from my old 6.3MPix Canon 10d numerous times.
