I have both Lightroom3 and Nikon Camera Control Pro2 and prefer the tethering feature of Lightroom better bec of the big picture it shows (on my laptop) and on automatic advance (i.e. shows new pic after you shoot it) whereas Camera control Pro2 does not. OK, here's what you do: 1. Download the latest firmware for your camera (I have a Nikon D300 and I believe the latest is 1.2) 2. Update to the latest version of Lightroom3 (I think it is 3.6) 3. Yes, all of you that said Lightroom3 tethering was buggy were correct So, do a live chat with Adobe and they will walk you through the "fix". What they will have you do is dig deep into the Lightroom3 directory and have you rename a folder name that was causing a conflict. 4. Then, shoot tethered to your heart's content......the bug(s) will be fixed. Remember, now, when shooting tethered in Lightroom, a) shoot in the "Develop" module in order to get the big picture shown on your laptop and b) after opening Lightroom, on a PC, go to "file" then "tethered capture" and then left-click (you want the check mark to show) on both "Auto Advance Selection" and also "Hide Tethered Capture Window" (if you want to hide that annoying bar; note, if you simply click the x mark in the upper right-hand corner of the bar when in TETHER when it appears, that will stop your TETHER process). c) then, you are ready to begin....click "Start Tethered Capture" and let the fun begin.
