Sorting large number of images.... - 11-04-2011, 08:42 AM

How do you sort your wedding image files so they follow each other in a chronological order? I have been using Adobe Bridge to do this task, however I often get an error message on my PC (never on my Mac though) and I have to start all over again. I am tired of it.

Which is the fastest, easiest software to use?

Photo Mechanic. Hands down the fastest error-less photo editing software for a PC. I've seen no other software faster at handling RAW files.

Help me out here. I have a Canon XSi which assigns filenames by number, then shows them in numerical order. If I couldn't do that, I would sort them by date created in Explorer, which is what I understand you want anyway.
What am I missing?

Hey joe, some of shoot events with more than one camera so a plain serial number does not fill the bill in that case. I use GG2 for my D200 and GG7 as the prefix for my D700. That way when I dump the files into my project directory I do not worry about duplicate numbering.

If I need to sort in order taken, I just use my photo finishing sorts are and sort by date taken. I did learn, however, to synchronize my camera clock with my computer clock before an important shoot.

Lightroom, and sort by capture time. Then rename in sequence when you export.
