Just got it running. I personally don't think I'll use the Map function a lot nor the book window.

I can see this being a benefit to the wedding photographers and folks doing landscape work.

Not bad so far though.

I'm curious if the changes to the RAW engine make it better, or just easier. But not curious enough to install it. I'll wait for CS6 I guess.

I just received a reply regarding my gripe (above) that adjustments made in LR4b won't transfer over to CS5.
Seems the ARC versions are different with LR4b, so at this time the changes won't transfer.

Different ACR versions

At the moment you can not do that.

Yep... If you look closely at some of the Kelby videos LR4 is running with the ACR 6.0 engine. ACR 5.5 is the current version. Eventually they'll release ACR 6.0.

They are doing some really good things for us in ACR 6 / LR4 as far as adjustments go. I'm looking forward to the full release.

Paul,

Try this:

Edit an image in LR4b. After you done press ctrl+S. That will create a .xmp (sidecar) file that photoshop (ACR) can read. Now send your RAW file from LR4b to PSCS5 as you normally would.

I'm not sure it will work but I remember having this problem with LR3b.

I don't think it will work... LR4 is using a different adjustment "engine". But... I guess it's worth a try. I noticed that I can't edit raw files with the new adjustments in LR4... so I'm guessing it won't work

I found a solution to my adjustments not transferring to CS5 problem, thanks to a reply in the Adobe forum. I had turned off the warning about the ACR version. Turning it back on and using the "Render..." button worked. My LR4b changes transferred properly.

Quote:
It *should* be possible if Lightroom is doing the rendering by itself. To do that, you may have to reset all warnings in the general settings dialog. Next time when you choose "edit in PS", LR should warn you that the ACR versions do not match. Choose "render using LR" - LR will then create the new photo file on its own and pass the newly created file to PS. The ACR of PS is not used then.
