Multiple catalogs for Lightroom - 01-26-2012, 04:02 PM

I tried Abel's suggestion and created a new catalog for 2012. Now, unfortunately, that's the only catalog that I have and all previous images seem to be gone.
I hope that my previous catalog can be recovered. Your assistance, as always, is sincerely appreciated.

How did you create a new catalog? I make a new catalog with every photoshoot, then when I'm done with the edits I add them to one main catalog.

Roy,
See Abel's post below on New Catalog for Lightroom.
In the past, I have made a separate collection for each shoot and this worked fine. However, I thought I'd give this a try.
I'm using a PC rather than a Mac and the instructions from Abel may have been related to a Mac. Regardless, it hasn't worked for me and now I find myself in a dilemma.

Go to file, then open recent and it should list all your catalogues.

I have separate catalogues for the different types of shoots I do. I don't have that many pictures in Travel or Sports because I don't shoot enough of each, so I will do multiple years in one catalogue. Then I have a separate catalogue just for weddings each year, which I shoot the most of. Makes it easier to find a shoot and to sort for a certain thing.
