The "Fake Model" processing - 08-27-2006, 12:27 AM

After reading Allens post , I decided to give this a try. I heard about it years ago, but was not really interested. But now I think i have a new step for post processing for certain images.

Here are a few samples

Did you follow the same process listed in my other thread? I think those look really good. Nice work.

Allen, yes I followed the steps in the link you provided. I tried it once and it worked, but I did not like where the focus point was so when I tried to go back and change it. I could NOT get the quick Mask function to work properly. I closed PS, opened it again and still no luck. I restarted the PC and still no good. I dont know what I did but it eventually started working again.

I tried it on a lot of photos last night and found that this technique is NOT for every image.

Ha Ha! That's cool.

When I opened this thread I thought you were trying to make models look real. And I was like, hmmmm, they still look like models to me.

Fooled me!

The tutorial that I followed in the magazine actually had a few more steps involved than that of the link provided. Obviously what you did worked.

I'm not sure, but I think his camera had a lot to do with the look of those National Geographic pics.

Here's an attempt. I need to find a shot I have with better perspective though.

I've found that it seems more like a model if there is less sky in shot, either through cropping or shooting down on the subject if possible.
