Ethereal processing - 12-11-2006, 11:53 PM

Just wanted to get some opinions on this process. The full sized image turned out better than I expected. Any comments or criticisms are welcome. I've posted pictures from this workshop session before but I'm still working on processes!

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, just my opinion, but if you do the effects on a different layer and then selectively erase or mask areas of the effect (such as the eyes) the final product will have a little more impact. If you wanna post the original or send it to me, I'll show you what I mean.

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

I know exactly what you mean, Nic. You are right and I didn't even think about it! lol I was just going over some pics I had on my laptop and I used different processes to figure out which ones fit better for different types of pictures, but I didn't even think about selectively erasing on it. I do agree that it would have worked out pretty good on this one had I done it.

How do you perform a selective erase if you are using an action? Can you stop it in the middle of an action sequence, erase, then resume?

Thanks guys and keep em coming!

Jeff

Presonally I would just paste this copy on top of the original then throw a mask on it and take out the areas you want with a brush on about 30% opacity so that you can build the effect .....but nic may know a better way

Nope, that's exactly how I do it. In almost any action I create the first step is "duplicate layer" so that I can do some masking in the end.
