Exclamation 4x6 from Mpix - 12-13-2006, 03:06 PM

I just got an order from Mpix of 4x6 prints for a client, and it appears that a lot of detail was lost in the downsizing from the original file and/or printing. They print at 250ppi so there's probably plenty of resolution there, but missing details. They really don't look very good IMO. Anyone else experienced this?

Never had any issues. I have ordered several sizes from 4x6 to 20x30 and haven't seen any problems.

I think you can see more of the individual details at the larger sizes, but that is strictly an issue of the details being large enough to really make out. Shrink anything enough and things will get lost as they are crammed together. Just look at the cover of a magazine versus an inside small shot. Same quality but with the smaller image size you can't make out individual hairs like you can on the cover.

Thanks, Pete. That makes sense. The larger prints of the same image look fine, but these are pretty bad comparatively speaking.
