Lost Eye Help - 03-05-2007, 01:55 PM

I have several good images, that I let my light be off enough that one of the subjects eyes are not well lit. Any way to "help" that? Using Paint Shop Pro X.
Thanks

Probably going to depend on how dark it is and the file size for sure. Mind posting an example for me to see? I have no experience with paint pro either.

I used the small image for just a quick adjustment using adjustment layers (primarily curves) and masks to lighten up the dark side of the face a bit and lighten up the whites of the eyes. Also did a little darkening of the pupils. All done in Photoshop CS2. Is this moving in the direction you had in mind?

I'm assuming you're looking to get color detail back in the eye? Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to "recover" the lost data, but you can definitely super impose it. Because the shot isn't a super close up it'll be even easier to pull off and make look good. Litterally copy and paste the color portion or even the whole "good" eye over the lost color then use some sort of healing brush if your program has it to make it blend. Should be a piece of cake.

Thanks Guys. What would it look like if a highlight was added to the eye?

You're in luck. This months edition of Digital Photographer (www.dpphotographer.co.uk) with the picture of the owl on the cover has a step by step article on page 84 that covers this very topic in PSP XI!

It's a UK mag (costs about 12.99 at barnes and noble) but I like it because they do have tutorials and a CD comes with every issue.

Check it out and that article and see if that helps..
