I use Nikon so, the RAW files are native to them I am thinking. There may not be anything out like that but, it would be helpful to have something that would do a batch conversion for pics that I don't PP. I know Photoshop has a converter but, I have problems with it sometimes. I am looking for something a little cleaner.

Lightroom is good.. That is my converter of choice right now. Nikon Capture (or whatever they call it these days) is decent. As well as Capture One, Bibble Pro and others.

I am really a fan of Adobe Lightroom currently. I used to love (actually still do) Raw Shooter Pro before Adobe snatched them up.

I've been using Adobe Camera Raw (Photoshop CS2) for two years. When calibrated it offers excellent RAW conversions IMHO. I've tried many others, but keep returning to ACR. YMMV.

I'm impressed with Adobe Lightroom. Although I never really liked using Adobes ACR, I do like Lightroom which is somewhat like ARC but goes further and it's only version one and still growing. It's not perfect but very good for an initial release.

Another that I've seen good results from is Phase One - Capture One although the current version is not as advanced on the image management side as Lightroom. A new version 4 is to be released this year that should be worth evaluating again.

Most all raw converter software company's offer download of a trial version for limited usage try-out. I would suggest trying them yourself and deciding what you like.

Looks like I might have to invest in Lightroom. I was trying to hold off on it but I might as well get it while the price is still low.

Lightroom is good and you won't be disapointed.
you just select all the files you want and export them to tiff or jpeg

I'm waiting for version 5 to come out and re evaluate it then since I am suppose to have a free upgrade path to that release.

Hmmmm... good info. I have v.4.9x, which will also give me a free upgrade to 5 when it's available. I also found that Arlington Camera has a better price on it than if you bought it directly from Bibble. Plus, you have the advantage of having the disk.

If you just want to go to TIFF, Capture One is hard to beat. The free SanDisk offer forLE makes it even better.

It's only drawback to me is the work flow regarding file output locations is not intuitive at least to me and Documentation is scant.

All that said, the intergation of ACR with CS2 via Bridge is just hard to beat.

All have their good and bad points. Currently for me Bibble Pro is the ticket. I love hitting the "F" key to create a full size jpeg in the background, while I go on to the next raw file. The built in Noise Ninja is another nice feature.

I don't have Bibble yet, but because it's based in Austin I was hoping it would be cheaper than going from PS 7 to CS2. I also heard noise nija was good. CharlesHolekamp

PaintShop Pro handles Canon RAW; Nikon RAW I dunno....and it is a darn good editor to boot.
