Where to print a photo book? - 04-02-2007, 09:05 AM

Hello everyone,
I took pictures at a 25th Anniversary party this weekend and wanted to print a book with them. This book is like a photo album, but the pictures aren't physically pasted on it, instead, the pictures are printed on the book itself. I'm going to design it in PS myself and wanted to see what print shops you guys would recommend for a job like this.

Any tips/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Do you want full control? - 04-02-2007, 02:59 PM

I've recently done a book at Lulu. Advantage is that they accept full PDF so you have complete control for quality (or lack thereof) of the book. No predefined templates there.

I'd suggest using Adobe InDesign to layout the book, very easy to work with and the 9x7" was good (only drawback is a thin white glue-strip visible when perfect-bound books are opened completely flat).

just my $.02

Shutterfly has a good, inexpensive photo book product. You will like the quality of the prints.

I would recommend Shutterfly or American Color Imaging (their gloss coat is really nice). I was pleased with Blurb until several of my books had pages falling out.

If you don't mind downloading and using their software and templates, MyPublisher makes a nice photo book and you can get them for 25-50% off with VAL2550 code through May or June. I was pleased with the four I had made some time ago.

MyPublisher makes a solid book; however, I personally feel the quality is not to professional standards. Nice book for personal use, but I wouldn't try to sell them to clients.

thank you all. I went with Shutterfly since i don't have Adobe InDesign and doing it strictly on PS would prob take more time that I'm willing to spend on it, plus this is for personal use as a trial to see how these books come out :)

Again, thanks for the responses! :) I hope to get the book in next week!
