B&W to color question - 04-21-2007, 04:28 PM

If I wanted to take a landscape and convert to a B&W and then color it back but, using my own colors and not the origional what would be the most efficent way to do that? I saw some really nice photography at the Fort Worth art festival today and the gentleman told me he starts w/B&W and then using Photoshop adds his own colors back in. The pictures looked like watercolors but slightly desaturated.

Paul, create your B&W picture. Then select the the brush tool and change the mode from normal to color. Set the size/hardness on the brush, pick the color you want, and paint away in your picture.

Thanks for the info!

Sheeezzzz... I kind of feel like an idiot. That seems pretty easy. I use photoshop quite often but only know what I need to PP the pics the way I normally do. I need to branch out I guess. Thanks again.

No problem. It wasn't too long ago that I started playing with blending modes...what a world of possibilities that opened up!

Other option (in color image) may be to image -> replace color
click on color in image you want to change, then click on final result square in pop up window and on color palete choose the end color.
Might not work always, bu sometimes powerfull tool.
