CS2 and save to web

This is a discussion on CS2 and save to web within the Post Processing Central forums, part of the Photography Information category; after i edit my photos and resize them and try to save to web...the color just seems to go right ...

CS2 and save to web - 04-26-2007, 01:50 PM


after i edit my photos and resize them and try to save to web...the color just seems to go right out of the photo. what's going on? this didn't use to happen with cs2, it's a new thing for me.

how do i fix it? any ideas?

2 possibilities

1: You're working on different color space rather than sRGB, Saved as web let you preview the final image with sRGB but you're not in this color mode. In this case, saturation seems off and dull. You have to convert final image to sRGB (web color space) for web usage.

2: You're working on laptor monitor, the LCD gamut falls out of sRGB color space. The color is shifting toward red cast. Much warmer tone in some cases.

yep, that fixed it (option 1) so how do i reconfigure cs2 so i dont have to change it for every pic?

If you are satisfied with sRGB, then you can set it in your color preferences as the working colorspace. This way you can have it for all your processing. However, you should realize that sRGB is a smaller color gamut than others, but it is the one for web use.

yeah, i just want it for my website..otherwise i wouldn't want it to change my photos

I would not use "save for web" in Photoshop, it strips the EXIF data out. You are better off converting to 8bit->convert to sRGB->resize.
