Question Need help with Pro Show Gold and burning DVD's... - 04-27-2007, 08:20 AM

I'm trying to burn a slideshow to a DVD but can't get the DVD to work in my DVD player...on the tv or pc. I did the "Create DVD" button. Is that not the right thing to do? I'm trying to use the Lightscribe DVD+R...is that wrong? I've burned 3 of them now, changing different settings, but it's just not working. I know it used to work and I could play the DVD's on my DVD player/TV...don't know why it won't work any more. Please offer any suggestions!
Thanks!!!

Have you downloaded the latest update for proshow? I was having problems with Lightscribes too and that's all they told me to do and it worked.

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

I've had that problem. Make sure you have the latest version. They have a list of compatible DVD drives, although you said you were able to burn in the past. I've found their tech support to be pretty good - I'd just call 'em up.

Thank you both so much! Off to check for updates! I haven't called CS yet, but will if this doesn't work. Thanks again!

I too was having many issue related to burning DVD's from Pro Show... following the advice that I received in another forum... I started creating iso images rather than trying to burn directly to the DVD.

Then I would use a different application, such as Nero, etc... to burn the iso image to DVD. I have yet to have a DVD that would not burn through this process and all played fine on different DVD players

OK, I downloaded...and of course ended up having to pay for...the upgrade! LOL The DVD worked on my tv/dvd system and on my pc, but not on one of my dvd players. At least it works on the pc, now!

Thanks for the info, Jake. This is going to sound really dumb, but I'm not quite sure I understand how you do that. How do you create an iso image? With photoshop or in ProShow? And then how do you burn the slideshow using Nero...is it still a slideshow with transitions and music? It would be great to make sure the slideshow works on all dvd players! Sorry for all the questions!

Hey Cyndi,

I'll try to recall from memory since I'm not at home at the moment...but somewhere under the section where you create the DVD under output options you can use the dropdown to select iso image. Choose to save it somewhere you can find it (desktop etc..). Once you select all this and choose create DVD the program will start to process your slideshow, with transistions and music etc. Once it is finished you will have an iso image file wherever you chose to save the file to.

Then use nero or whatever burning software you have to burn the iso image to the DVD. I just recently started using a different application to burn the DVD's, but unfortunately I can't recall the name of it at the moment.

If you search Google for a free iso image burning software, you should get several different options. I know this is a lot and I kind of rambled on....sorry about that ;-)

Jake~

Jake, thank you so much for the info! I couldn't find where I could save it, but I burned another slideshow and the ISO box was checked...and that DVD worked on the one player I have that the others would not work on. So I guess that's all I have to do! Thanks so much!!!

Glad to hear that worked!!!

I have a DVD player that won't play any of the DVD's i create.. but then again, it's a 5 year old DVD player that was on sale at Christmas from Walmart for like $35 so that doesn't really surprise me. We have it tucked into a guest bedroom, and it really never get's used anymore.

There is a difference in the DVD players such that they will not all play DVD+R or DVD-R. You usually need to check in your owner's manual or with the manufacturer. I sent a vacation slide show to each of our family members. All but one could view it on their DVD players. The lone one had to view it on their laptop player.

Here's one more thread I found on this issue on another forum:

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,18240162

Also, for what it is worth - I had issue with Nero trying to burn an ISO image on my lightscribe as well. I started using "ImgBurn" and knock on wood, have yet to have an issue!
