Photoshop PP...how to darken only parts of a photo? - 04-30-2007, 03:59 PM

Quick question...I am trying to touch up some photos with Photoshop 7 that I took this weekend. However, I have some photos (like the one here) where I am trying to enrich the colors and tone done only parts of it. The sun coming through on the girls face is making it difficult for me. How do I tone down the sunlight but also not darken in the guys face too much? Thanks.

is it PS CS2? you can use try shadow highlight. make new layer from background, go to image down to shadow/highlight. experiment, it sometimes changes you colors up if you crank it up. leave shadows at 0.

They are more options I know some other PS guru's have some. just my 2 cents.

1st one is shadow highlight, didn't do much

2nd one i sampled areas and air brushed the hot spots down.

not a very good job, but just had to give it a try.

One last thing I didn't try was making a quick mask and then adjusting exposure in the selected area.

burning in cs2 also will help daken some spots and not others.
