Help with PP in CS2 - 05-13-2007, 02:45 PM

Ok,
I know somewhere on this forum the answer to my question lies.. I know this because, Unless I dreamed it, I have seen it. however I can't find it... so here is the question...

why when I do my processing in CS2, the colors look great really pop, then when i save for web. they turn flat and dull.. I know this is probably a very simple answer. but I am so lost right now.

thanks,

rusty

Rusty,
Here is what I do to save an image from Photoshop for web publishing (I am sure there are other methods as well). After doing all the Photoshop editing:
  1. Flatten image (layer > flatten image)
  2. Convert color to sRGB (edit >convert to profile) - select sRGB
  3. Set image size (Edit > image size) -- usually go with ~800 pixels on longest side using bicubic sharper (as the resampler method) - make sure the scale style and constrain proportion boxes are checked.
  4. Slight USM on the resulting image (75, 0.3, 3)
  5. Convert to 8 bit (image > mode)
  6. Save as JPG file
You can set up an action to automate this sequence.
