Photomatix Pro or CS3 - 05-16-2007, 11:30 PM

What are most users experiences with these 2 programs for HDR? Ease of use, workflow, results....etc. Strictly related to HDR since I know CS3 has a whole other world of possibilities.

CS3 has better HDR than CS2 but I think that Photomatix is still better at HDR than CS3. I am basing this on the beta version of CS3. I have my copy of CS3 but still have not gotten around to installing it. Perhaps this weekend? I do know the merge/alignment of mulitple photos in CS3 is greatly improved and with more features which are also used in the HDR process.

I use a combination of the two. I do the initial Merge to HDR in PS and generate a .HDR file from the merge. I then open the .HDR file into the Photomatix standalone application for Tone Mapping and output to a 16 bit TIFF and then do my final processing in PS. CS3 Merge to HDR does seem to do a slightly better job of the merge than CS2.
