Question Benefits of using Bridge? - 05-24-2007, 09:08 AM

Someone told me that a lot of you use Bridge to process images. What are some of the benefits of using it? Is it for better organizing? I feel like I just got the hand of CS2, but if this is something that will help my workflow, I'm interested in learning!

I looked around here for some info links/tutorials and really didn't find anything. Does anyone have any recommendations for books?

Thanks!

It's great for rating images, labeling them, and previewing them.

I'm using bridge more and for rating and then using the batch move and rename function for organizing subfolders.

Hi Christie,
I recently started using Adobe Lightroom but I've used Bridge to process images before. Was hooked on the idea when I saw Raymond and Jordan post-process an image all in Bridge in less than 1 minute. But it just depends on your post-processing routine. With the exception of removing backgrounds, cloning, healing brushes...you can download or create your own actions and batch apply them quickly. I also found Bridge & Lightroom fast and easy to use when sorting keepers & throw-away images. Oh, and you can also make non-destructive edits to jpegs.

This is just off the top of my head but I remember being able to adjusts:
exposure
histogram
levels
contrast
saturation
colors
shadows
sharpen
noise reduction
vignette
straighten/level horizon
crop
etc...etc...etc....

OMG! YES! It saves a ton of time once you figure it out. At the very least you can view everything, at the very most you can automate processing once you figure out what you like. Google Bridge tutorials - there are a bunch of free ones online. Im not exactly technologically inclined - and it was so worth figuring it out.

After watching David Jay's video on Adobe Bridge - http://davidjay.com/email/August_200...AW_default.mov - I was a total convert! I looooove using Bridge! (I bought his Brilliant RAW presets too, and use them all the time!)

Anything that allows someone to process through 1000s of wedding photos in 2-3 hours ROCKS in my opinion!

I might agree with that statement for CS2. In CS3 I actually prefer Bridge + ACR to Lightroom.

Second on that. CS3 Bridge (even with a few minor glitches) rocks! I love the changes made from CS2.

You'd like Bridge CS3 even better. The previews are much better particularly for RAW images.

I go over this extensively in my workshops. In my opinion there is no other way to process you images in a fast and effective method.
