Creating a Diptych in Photoshop? - 05-26-2007, 07:19 AM

I've got two frames I want to line up side by side in a single image. I've increased my canvas but with a simple move can't get them to line up. It's not a pano shot.

Any ideas?

Did you turn off view->snap to ? Sometimes that can get in the way.

Are you pixel peeping at 200%? Are the original images the same size in the vertical dimension? What about their resolution? They should be the same ppi.

Both are identical. I'm looking at 'fitscreen'. Let me try snap shortly...

Have tried putting a guide down? Dragging from the rulers section will lay down a guide, and if it lays down right on the edge of one image, you'll snap to it when moving another image close enough to it.

If you have to, view a portion of the image at a high magnification like 500% and use the cursor keys to move one of the images one pixel at a time in both the horizontal and vertical dimension till the images are aligned.

I agree with Frank. High maginification and use of the cursor keys.

You could also use "Align" to line them up relatively simply. All you need to do is select your background image layer and then LINK the secondary image that you dragged in. When you have your grab tool (black arrow) selected then you should get all your align options at the top of the screen. Click on "Align vertical centers" and it will align the new image to the original one. Once you've done that, you unlink them and use a high level zoom to butt them up close to one another.

Done!
