Did you have to buy the Noise Ninja ? or was it a plugin?

I purchased noise ninja and then downloaded the plug on to go with nn and ps...... no free noise ninja download :0( They do however offer student rates if either of you are a student or can wrangle one of them to vouch for you, it's roughly $20 off.

What plug-in for RAW? I have a copy but haven't updated it in a while since I didn't have any new[er] cameras to use with it.

It's here http://www.picturecode.com/nn_plugin.htm, basically it turns noise ninja into a filter for ps, so you can use it on raw images instead of converting to jpeg..... at least thats my limited understanding. I've been using it on raw images in ps all night and it's working like a charm.

Thanks! Just went and downloaded it. I would just convert to .tifs from RAW and then bulk run Noise Ninja on similar files/shots.

Cool. I thought about doing that, but with the plug in i have it set as an action, so I just click one button. It's easier in my workflow to do the edits as I go instead of having to go back and group similar files (I do weddings and have 1000 or shots for each wedding). But whatever works!!!

If you haven't done it yet, I would recommend that you profile your camera for each ISO setting and use these profiles instead of the auto-profile.

1D Mark III, EF 17-40, EF 24-105 IS, EF 70-200 f/2.8 IS, EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6, EF 300 f/4 IS, EF 100 f/2.8 Macro
20D, EF-S 10-22, EF-S 18-55, EF 28-135 IS, EF 75-300 IS, EF 50 F/1.8 plus 1.4x & 2x extenders

Glad you're like NN Dori!

On the specific profiles vs. auto.. I have found that depending on how you use it....it may or may not be advantageous. Auto works decently, and if I have made any exposure changes prior to running NN, I find Auto works better (typically, due to exposure changes modifying the visible noise from the profiled orginal). If you have thousands of images at varying ISOs (which I do).. using the profiles isn't always practical. Perhaps there is a trick to getting the AUTO to work via the EXIF to apply the correct profile....I see that option, but never seem to get it to work (or if it is, it isn't apparent to me).

It's a cool utility... I use it a lot of times to apply to portraits (even without ISO noise) to smooth out skin a bit...Typically, fading the opacity of the filter to taste after applying.

You have to use the "annotations" tab to set-up the EXIF information for your profiled image and then save the profile and settings to a folder.

Then NN will pick the correct filter based on the EXIF information in the file.
