well, based on the nice job you did on your Smugmug site...learning CS2 shouldn't be a problem
depending on what you want to accomplish, there are some great books available (check the TPF bookstore for some good prices)
most of the little that I learned, I did by google searches, asking quesitons here on the forum and mainly trial and error.
we're here to help

Scott Kelby's book on CS2 is fabulous. That and tips on this forum are totally how I learned that monster.

I look for websites that walk you step by step on different techniques and once I have it down I then play with the ideas and tech.

www.radiantvista.com - Free and several of the best video tutorials I have seen free or not.

www.lynda.com - You can get on and off a monthly plan anytime or purchase a CD/DVD if you like.

I just like video tutorials for learning visual applications.

And I just noticed that BlueHour has posted a free tutorial on a couple of very important PS topics.

I've been using photoshop for a long time, but I took a 2 or 3 year hiatus from photography before CS came out. To get back into I just started playing with it, and I still do the same. I'll open random pictures and see what I can do with them. Sometimes I'll find a "look" that I really like and try to knock it off just for practice. You don't necessarily have to know what your doing in order to learn, the process of just messing around can really teach you a lot. It might not be efficient but it works for me! I don't think I've ever read a "how to" book about ANYTHING, I'm a bit too ADD for that. I love books, just not technical ones! Also, I use tutorials. If I don't know how to do something you can bet I go googling to find out!

The best start I found was Adobe Photoshop CS2 One-on-One by Deke McClelland.

It has a CD with video and paced lessons and images for each section. I like it much better than Kelby's books because Kelby just gives quick how to's and doesn't lay any foundation for you to build on.
