Noise Ninja - 06-17-2007, 10:18 PM

Am I doing this right? NN is already set for my 20D.

Okay I have both the filter for inside Photoshop but also the stand alone version which I prefer.

So normal Post Processing and then the final step - Noise removal:

Open photo in Noise Ninja....

Profile Image
Have Filter very course noise checked as well as Turbo Mode and show advanced controls

Luminance:
On strength go all the way to the right
Smothness all the way to the left

Zoom in on preview box and adjust Smoothness to what you like

Repeat w/ colors

Set Contrast and Saturation

Apply sharpening and raduis

Check suppress halos

Hit remove noise

Any reason after you do the ACR and save it that you can't do Noise Ninja and then go into Photoshop to do the rest of the post (esp if shooting at 1600 or 3200)

Also can you batch process w/ NN?

When I use NN, it's to do very basic noise reduction after any ACR adjustments. No sharpening, saturation, etc. I do everything else in PS. However, I don't have all the functions of NN figured out yet. That's why I pretty much stick to the basics.

There is a batch version of NN if you bought the Pro version. I use NN a lot for all my low light work and my work flow is simple, turn off all noise reduction in ACR. Once in photoshop the first thing I do is profile the image with NN and then let it run. The only change to this if I'm going to uprez with Genuian Fractals. I then first uprez to my final print size and then run NN with it profiling the image.

AHH I now see the Batch Process.....Okay I am really new to NN so I need a bit more hand holding on this one. I do have the sharpening turned off in ACR (preview only).

I always hit "profile image" but do not fully understand what it does or why. Does it automatically tell NN what to do so that all I have to do is hit "profile image" and then Remove noise w/o any adjustment of the sliders?

Read the manual....

but yes, it profiles the noise for the image at the worst locations (see the little boxes) and you don't have to move anything.

Don't just turn sharpening off in preview. Set it to this if you want to follow my system.

There should be a PDF version of the users guide in the doc subfolder of your Noise Ninja folder.

Here are the links to the user guides:

// Noise Ninja plug-in
http://www.picturecode.com/docs/nnpl...erGuide212.pdf

// Noise Ninja Standalone
http://www.picturecode.com/docs/nnst...erGuide210.pdf

If this isn't your version ask Picture Code for its location.
