Problems with Downloading RAW? - 06-18-2007, 07:08 PM

I shot a wedding this weekend where I mixed between JPEG and RAW. The problem is when I plugged in my memory card to DL the photos only the JPEG's came up. The files for the raw are .nef files. However, my PC doesn't recognize the files. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks.

tried it in the wizard and windows explorer. in windows exp it just shows boxes with a symbol in them and .NEF at the end of the file name. so i tried going to the nikon site to DL a program for it but had no luck.

If you have the CD that came with your Nikon camera, there is a 30 day trial program that will let you read & convert your .nef files. Also, you can download a 30 day trial copy of Adobe Lightroom, either should get you out of the woods, at least for 30 days.

XP should be able to see the NEF files. When you plug in your USB to your camera, you should see the files, although maybe not be able to open them.

Copy to your local hard drive, then import into Lightroom. In my experience, trying to open NEFs in CS2 takes forever...
