Vector images

Is there a easy way (ie plugin) to turn something like a headshot or picture into a vector image. I have done 2 in the past and they were pretty time consuming. I was wondering if any one had a easier way or tool that they use.

I believe, (haven't worked with it in a while) that Corel Draw can convert to vector from rastor and back again.

Why would you want to do this? Just curious if there's an advantage that I don't know about.

Just took a look at Corel photo paint and Corel Draw (version 7). NO raster to vector converter present.

Try Adobe Illustrator if you purchased the Creative Suite.

Yeah, that is still the long way. I was just looking for a plug-in to change something like a portrait of a person like myself into a vector image without tracing all the blacks, then blues, etc.....

Photoshop will do the following technique, although this may not be what you mean by vector images.

Hi Jay. There's several ways to do this, it is called "PENCIL SKETCH", Adobe Labs has a great tutorial on this and is much better than I could explain.
Although you want to first lighten you original with levels, and refine the results with USM and the eraser tool.

yes pencil sketch is best i use that always for vector
