Yup, I'm sitting here looking at it. Apparently it will keep in sync with ACR 4.1 settings. I've heard it's much faster all around. It definitely seems faster showing previews, I'm hoping it's fast enough to actually start using it for DAM. They've certainly improved the library functions enough that, if the speed and stability is there, I think it now has the basic feature set I need.

Ok...I just installed 1.1 and it cleared ALL of my settings. All of my catalogs, collections, presets, everything. Any ideas on what happened here and what I can do to correct it?

It did the same thing to me. You have to go to file, open catalog and point it to your 'library'. It will give you some info telling you it has to convert your 1.0 library to the new 1.1 library. Depending on the size of your library it may take a while. Let it run through to completion and you should be good to go.
Not sure about the collections and presets. I didn't have those configured.

Seems to have fixed the bug, I haven't done that much since I have reloaded the OS 5 times. Some changes are ok, but they have removed some tools and kind of hidden them. you have to crop for 4x6, 8x10 and so on in the library and then go to developer to straighten or do other adjustments.

Sounds like you know far more about using LR than I do. Essentially I'm trying to learn it to see if I really want to use it before CS2/3 on a regular basis.
I learned only yesterday that using the crop tool in ACR will allow you to open the image in CS2 precropped. I guess I should spend a little more time learning how to get the most out of ACR.

I used the beta for a while I could and found that batch processing was a big advantage. Being able to select a group and make white balance and exposure correction like in Bridge with out shooting in raw. I still use CS2 for layered work and doing fine tuning. I like LR better than bridge. I just bought LR a first of the month, I have been with out it and the beta version were turned off.

I've learned you can open all your RAW files at once in ACR and select all even though you are only looking at one image in ACR, then adjust your white balance, exposure, shadows, etc. and save all changes to the RAW files at once. Then you can batch process from there or single out images with special needs.
I like having the RAW file to work with. I believe RAW has more latitude than jpeg when it comes right down to it. Could be Latitude I don't need, but at least it's there.
When I better understand how to effectively use LR I'll be much happier.
My CS2 learning curve continues...

raw is better, you are make adjustments to each pixel, before it is compressed to jpeg for uploading for example or if you have to convert it to print. I shoot a lot of sports and use the large jpeg to get the max out of my cf cards. If I can get some 8gb or bigger cards I might switch to raw for sports also.

I picked this tidbit off the Canon forum yesterday (tues) Quote:
From Jeff Schewe (LR Development Team), 10:44 EST today:
" Guys...not to rain on your parade but what you got was a test stage that has now been yanked (or will be). The final release isn't for a few days yet. It's also not real clear if what you downloaded WILL be the final build (only somebody in LR QE can say for sure). But you all pretty much jumped the gun. Yes, it was a screwup by Adobe IT...(not that that's all that unusual). But what you got isn't "official" until Tom Hogarty says it's official...ya know"
