Thanx for all the help, folks. Here is a resized version of the final results. I basically used the technique described in the Lunacore article, but had to do a little selection work on the background hills to get what I wanted.
I also added the high pass filter as Adam suggested - that was new to me. I like the affect. (It shows better on the full size image)
I had a couple of PMs from folks who wanted to know where I took the shot - and what it is. This is the Cúu Thé (say coo tay) Catholic church in the city of Huê (say whey) in Việt Nam. The architecture is unusual because it combines Asian and European influences. The shot was taken from the seventh floor of a building a mile of so away.
This shot was taken from the opposite side of the other shot. You can see better in this one that it was built in the classic form of a European cathedral in the shape of a cross, yet the steeple has a very Asian look to it. The architect was Vietnamese and is famous for other buildings throughout the country.
