Unexpected end of file error in NEF file - 07-17-2007, 02:34 PM

I have an NEF file I can view fine in the preview in Bridge, but when I try to open with CS3 or Capture NX, I can't. CS3 gives me an "Unexpected end of file error", NX just won't open it.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I guess it's just a goner. It's copied to 2 different HDs, and both of them have the same problem.

Oh well.

Tom, it sounds like something happened to the file before it was completely written to the memory card. You might try an image recovery program on the memory card. sometimes that will retreive it. Even if you have already reused the card it might still be there.

Thanks for replying, Don.

I can't even begin to remember which card it was, and they've all been reformatted in camera a bunch of times since then.

I have the jpeg, but the nef would have been nice.
