I use imagenomic and I am happy with it so far... the last shoot I did a lot of them at 1600 iso so I had to use it quite a bit

Noise Ninja Pro works extremely well. As does Neat Image.

I use NoiseNinja when needed.

What camera are you using? Depending on what you're utilizing the images for, you may never see it. Especially in "normal" sized prints. Zooms at 100% on an LCD shows much more noise than what you'll see in print.

I shoot weddings nearly every weekend and do not hesitate to shoot at ISO 1600 at dark receptions. The key is getting your exposure correct when at higher ISOs. This really helps minimize noise a lot. Underexposed images that are brought up in post suffer the most when using higher ISOs.

Of course, having good sensor technology helps a lot. I moved from Nikon to Canon 20D's and eventually to 5D's for weddings since I typically am shooting in ultra low light 50% of the time. Fast lenses and off camera flash sure helps, as does noise reduction software. But... exposure is the key and can significantly help even noisier sensors. Good luck!

I will throw my pitch for Noiseware. I got it a couple of weeks ago and I'm amazed at what it does, and how much control you can have if you want it.

BTW, this is an area where almost everyone seems to be happy with what they have. All three of the big names -- Noise Ninja, Neat Image, and Noiseware -- get great reviews from people who use them. So its not something where you can go far wrong.

I use Noiseware but like Duffy said, I think they are probably all very good. NW worked very well for the way I work and I'm very happy with it:) I'd suggest you download the trial versions and take a look at how they work and the interface of each tool to see what suits you best. At least NN and NW have a 30 day limited trial versions so you can see the results etc before you buy:)

Best regards,

thanks guys.
I was also told that one has a community version or something (the one without the grid) that works great for free.
Anyone used it?

Not sure about the community version... but some of the lesser versions only support 8bit processing...Thus you have to convert your RAW images to 8bit before it'll work. I bought the Pro version of Noise Ninja and process all mine as either 16bit TIFFs or PSD's. I only convert to 8bit when needed for a specific filter and/or for final JPG conversion.
