Ok, I think I've tried everything and can't figure this out. One day, all of a sudden, my ACR just stopped reading my camera settings. It desaturates everything. When I view the original Raw images in Bridge, on my lcd, and in Photo Mechanic, they all have the original saturation and colors. The columns are red and the sky is blue. In ACR, the image is desaturated, the columns are a pale orange, and the sky is pale. It's not just a matter of increasing color saturation because that just makes the colums an ugly orange color instead of the original red. I have tried camera raw default settings, image settings, and I think everything else. I noticed this just happened at one point when I was converting. Before that, it didn't do it. HELP! It's so frustrating. I'm about to consider another Raw converter, which I can't afford. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. Have you tried resetting the camera raw defaults by clicking on the black arrow next to your image settings/camera raw defaults box and then selecting the option 'reset camera raw defaults'?
Other than that, I can't think of an issue that would cause this. I'll keep looking throught the preferences and other options (I'm in CS2) but I'd highly recommend doing a search on Adobes website in the meantime.

| No, I don't think I've tried that yet. I will try that and see if it helps...thanks! As far as the calibration tab, I will look, but I think when a friend asked me to check that, everything was at 0. | | | |

Ok, I just looked. It won't let me click to reset the camera raw default settings. That option is not bold. I also looked at the calibration tab, and everything was set at 0.

Everything at zero is where you want it unless you have profiled your camera body.

The option not being bold should indicate that you are already at your base camera raw defaults.
If you set black point and white point, does that affect your colors significantly?
Sorry, should have said, What happens when you use the white balance tool?

I have no idea if the camera body has been profiled. I just got the 20D, used, and I borrowed the 5D. I'm not even really sure what it means to profile the body...lol.

Interesting. I have a 5D raw file opened via CS2 acr and I have the option to reset camera raw defaults, yet a 30D raw file opened under Bridge has the option greyed out.
And..., I don't recall saving a new raw default for the 5D.

I shot raw plus small jpeg. I will show you the diff. here.

You take a shot of a gretagmacbeth color checker in raw format and then run a script on it in photoshop that outputs settings for your camera to make sure the colors it is recording are the colors you see on your monitor.
Just one more step in color management. I haven't done it yet. That's for next month.

I shouldn't have asked about black point and white point in ACR. Can't do that until it is in photoshop.

I'm not sure if these images were shot with the 5d (the one I just tried to open in raw) or not. I used both cams, but the problem exists with both of them. I will see if I can figure out which one is shot with the 20 and see if I can reset the settings in ACR with that cam.

Her skin has a very red cast to it in the image where the column is red. Was the column really that red?
Asking to see if the image with out the saturated red is a better representation of what you saw during the shoot/ | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
