PhotoShop Elements vs Adobe Lightroom - 07-27-2007, 02:15 PM

Ever since I got my XTi in January I've been stuck using just the editing software it came with, ZoomBrowser. I want to upgrade and get something that actually has some decent functionality.

I've used the Beta version of Lightroom and it was quite nice, but it doesn't have all the functionality that I would like. I've never used Elements though it sounds like it will have all of the functions I want, but I'm worried about the 'ease of use'.

If anyone can shed some light and give your opinions on the software I'd really appreciate it. I'm not a pro, so PhotoShop isn't a worthwhile investment for me. I just want a good solid program that will allow me some more creative freedom with regards to post processing.

Thanks!

Do you show raw or just JPEG's?

I didn't know that ZoomBrowser was a photo editor ... I use the other software from Canon that came with my XTi

Ligthroom is designed more for DAM and raw processing rather than post raw.

Sounds like you would get more out of Elements.

Photoshop Elements will do both as long as you load the RAW converter that comes with the camera. It is easy to use.
