Album Burnout! Help me! ARGHH! - 07-29-2007, 07:54 PM

***Warning: Birth Photos!!!***

It is not complete yet, but getting close. Some pages I LOVE, some I don't love. I feel like there are parts of the story missing, but I am totally uninspired. Please help me out.

PS - It will be a 5x5 for baby.

Thanks for the bump.

This is a very impressive handling of their most important event. You were already very comprehensive. I did not feel I was missing anything.

I was caught off guard visually by changes in style between the soft romantic processing and some of the point-of-fact/graphic imaging. So, while the full range of emotions of the day are represented, I might have concentrated on and around one or the other ends of the spectrum. For example, the first picture on the "it was a long night" page seemed out of place with the style of the caption, but the others made sense.

My 2 cents only.

Which ones look soft and romantic? The first few pages? Can you be more specific? I am kinda having tunnel vision.

Do you think I should delete that image? Or put it somewhere else?

Also should I switch those 2 night pages? I feel like it jumps straight to daytime.

Like, can you tell me EXACTLY where it changed? I've been looking at it page-by-page, so this is exactly the type of help I need.

THANKS!!

THANKS!!
Page before the long night, I would have scropped or stylized the bath tub and ball shots some, and made the border dimming a little more predominent to make the transition to the border of the long night's darkness fit. Then in the next pages, either carried over the night feeling, or, if it was really the next morning, (dunno) then use the border to explain or unfold the morning. I am not sure how the green and purple backgrounds fit in...

Gosh, I hope this helps! I am far from an "art" person. But I need a sense of cohesion from page to page and page to shots.

Yes, thank you very, very much!! The green & purple are totally random. That's the point where I went "ARGHH! This is not art! I need help! GAH!" (I didn't make the pages in any particular order.)

I would love some more opinions on this, I wanna re-do one time and send to print.

The only frame that the colors don't match the mood of the pictures, or seem to flow all that well seems to be the page directly following "And Krystin Arrived" I am not Crazy about the page that follows with the purple on the right side. Maybe take the purple out and drop in a dark/smoke grey to match with the B&W images in that spot.

I had to dig very deep for this criticism, as I was awestruck by the images, as well as the flow that the entire book has. I can't imagine that they will not absolutely treasure this production forever. Such a very thorough job you did, and I particularly liked the "Grandpa Left Directions" coupling of images.

Take a step back, and take a deep breath, and appreciate your own superb work on this. You have done very very well!

I just looked at htis for the third time and I don't see anything I would change. It tells the story and the scenes are reality. It really tells their story. Great job.

Good job!!!

The only thing I dont like is the flower and animal pictures 6 - 9. I think I would put more of Mom and Dad being happy and waiting for the big event in those slots.

I can't help you much with the album Michelle... There's probably a nit here or there but to tell the truth I've never seen an album like this. I am just blown away. I was there for all 4 of my kids birth (sterile hospital environment) and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything... but I would have GLADLY had you there to shoot it. I think that you have given them a memory that will far, far outlast them... awesome stuff.

Homie's got skills...

Wow.... great stuff.....I agree with Michael. Looks very good as it is to me. The only suggestion I could come with is to maybe be a little more consistent with the frames of the smaller photos in regards to borders and drop shadows. But then again the different styles may have been the look you were going for. You have probably used this before or something similar but if you ever get stifled on future albums for colors that go well together try one of those color charts ... link. Click on schemes and you get a whole new set. I do like the colors in your album btw. Just wanted to offer that link to you in case you ever needed it in the future.

It looks like you have put a lot of work into that album. Client should be very happy with finished product.

Thank you so much, guys! If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know! I'm gonna redo those pages later today and possibly ask you to look again at the changes unless I am finally happy with it.
