Ps Cs3 - 07-30-2007, 05:08 PM

I am sure this is a dumb question, but if I just want to use it for Photos what CS3 do I get?
Also if I was to do the extended version what other PS should I buy to work with the extended version?
Sorry but I have been looking at them all for so long that I am like this lol
Any and all help is appreciated
I know that it has to be 32 bit but other than that I am lost

All you would need is regular PS CS3. You won't need the extended version, or any of the full suites.

And no, I won't go near ebay at all :-)

I wouldn't buy CS2 right now for any reason as my primary photoshop program unless you don't want maximum versatility.

Here's why. The benefits afforded photographers in Lightroom and CS3 are only available if you are using ACR 4.0 or 4.1 Lightroom 1.1 uses ACR 4.1. CS3 is compatible with 4.0 and 4.1.

CS2 is only compatible up to ACR 3.7. Changes you make to a raw file in LR 1.1 using sliders/features not available in ACR 3.7/CS2 are exactly that..., NOT AVAILABLE why you open the file in CS2 for processing.

If you don't intend to use LR and already have CS2 then you shouldn't care about what I just said, but if you plan in picking up LR in the future and don't already have CS2, then you should be looking at CS3 to maximize your compatibility and feature set.

Just my thoughts on it...,

Ken

I agree with Ken... But if you don't plan to use LR or get any newer cameras for awhile, CS2 may very well do what you need...As long as ACR 3.7 can read your current camera raw files CS2 would be fine.

As I recall there are serious problems with CS2 on Vista -- either that, or it won't run at all. You also won't be able to get any support at all from Adobe (no comments from the peanut gallery :-).
