I'm sorry... I'm not sure what these people are really shooting for. Reminds me of Jon Benet Ramsey.

I have to agree with you...most of these "retouches" are horrific...unless you're trying to make the kid look like a china doll....they just look rediculous.

Have y'all seen "Little Miss Sunshine" - that photo reminded me of those little girls in the movie (not Olive). There should be a law against such thing

Anyone ever see the British TV series Thunderbirds? She looks like a marionette from that show. Maybe the person who "enhanced" the photo is a fan?

Truth in advertising does not apply I guess. My daughter did pageants when she was little, her photos were not retouched. I took all of them and they were shot on film (there are some on my web page). I don't think submitting some of those retouched images would be a true representation of the child for judging of a most photogenic category. (just my 2 cents)

it's one thing if that is the style you're going for.
dave hill (davehillphotography.com) is one of the best photographers whose work is mostly noted for his post-photography work.

this picture is just scary and there's no point in it unless you want to sell porcelain dolls.
natural beauty is more times than not going to be more attractive than processed beauty.
