Removing Glare on Glasses - 08-05-2007, 10:29 PM

I have some MAJOR glare on glasses. One eye is ok, the other has a glare and you can't see the eye at all. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to fix that in CS2 or can it be fixed?

Thanks!

Can't remove it with Photoshop. You can clone over it with another eye...but there is no magic bullet for a reflection in post processing.

I only know a couple of people that can remove the glare in glasses in bad cases. They aren't cheap either. I have only had to use them once.

If there is enough information in the other eye, it can be done, but is very tedious and time consuming.

I normally shoot two photos when someone wants to wear glasses and there is a glare problem that I can't handle with lighting tweaks. I ask the person to reamin still, and careful remove the glasses, give me the same facial expression and I shoot a quick shot of the image with NO glasses. I can then cut, paste and manipulate that "set of eyes" and mask out the glare.

This is what I do when I CAN'T handle the glare with lighting and posing changes. It works and you can't tell there was any glare.

I have had success cloning the good eye to a new layer, then reversing it, then carefully positioning. If it is possible to retake the photograph, that would probably take less time than doing a really good job of fixing it!

After agonizing forever in photoshop trying to correct glasses glare, my ultimate solution has come down to one single solution: Have the portrait subject ever-so-slightly tilt the head until the glare is gone before pressing the shutter.
Nothing I've been able to accomplish in PS has been worth the effort.

very simple if you have a shot of the same person with one eye and no glare copy that eye and include some of the lids upper and lower. flip the eye if you only have one side and place it into the other side. then erase parts to help blend it in. very easy... I have taken eyes from other people and blended them into the subject. a real portrait would be tuff but something from events and such isnt that hard.

you can use your clone tool with color blending and luminosity and hue to help get a lot of the glare out that isnt right over there center of the eye.

. key is make a layer for the eye retouching. dont forget your liquid filter to help out on shaping the eye because no two eyes are the same.
