Has anyone experienced the green color cast in the shadows while shooting with Canon? Is there a fix, or an adjustment that can be made? Is it typical with all Canons? I shoot the 1DMarkII and really notice it while shooting with strobes and underexposing the image.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Could you post an example?

Hey Jeff. I didn't get your VM until late last night...
I'm not a Canon expert, but I tend to get red casts in the shadows on my Nikon D200. This is mostly bothersome in skin tones on single light sets where light falloff at the knees makes the subjects legs look too red.
Hopefully one of the Canon experts here can answer.

I haven't noticed this myself. As John requested, an example might help.

When I get home this evening, I will post an example. I took several shots yesterday, with my camera, and Greg took the same shots with his D200. His D200 stayed true to color just a darker image. My 1DMarkII was true to color correctly exposed, but started having a strong green color cast as I started to underexpose. | | | |

What part of the studio were you using? If you are over by the olive wall or opposite side, I could imagine a cast being picked up in the shadows. That being said, if the D200 doesn't see it, I wouldn't expect the Canon to either...
Hmmmm.
Interesting.

I haven't heard of this with the markII series, but was a pretty well-known problem with out-of-camera JPEGs on the original 1D and 1Ds. Maybe there's something similar going on with the II? If you're shooting raw you should be able to take care of it with the camera calibration tab (if you're using ACR).
Here's the page with info (and tone curves) for the original 1D and 1Ds: http://visual-vacations.com/Photogra...tone_curve.htm

Try checking your White balance settings in your canon. I have the XT and theres the option of WB SHIFT/BKT wich lets you decide the color you would like to shoot with, a grid shows up and you can choose what color you would like to add a tinge of to your photo.
I hope i made sense. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
