Mastering Digital Black and White by Amandou Diallo

Mike Johnson's blog turned me on to it.

I've only had it since noon but it is the best (maybe only book on B&W Digital) I've seen.

It covers both film scans and digital capture. It has a great section on fine art papers and their role in B&W printing. Discusses Pixels vs. DPI and why they aren't the same. Why even with B&W you have to have color management.

The equipment is all current 2007 and he cover HP, Canon and Epson printers for B&W work.

There is even a section on the production of limited edition print portfolios.

I've just skimmed it but if you have any interest in doing fine art B&W printing you need to have this book.

I have the ebook version of that (at least, I have a "fine art printing" ebook written by Uwe and published on Outback Photo). It's a good read, providing background and a good intro to inkjet printing. Not as in-depth as this new book looks to be, though.
