How much are you charging for the job ?
Some places put out packages.
Some places can send the photos directly to your clients.
Some places can print in bulk.
Etc. Etc.

Where to send your files for printing is really something that needs to be addressed early in the process.

There are a zillion sites that will try for your business. Look in any pro-photo mag.

That's what I need to figure out, how much to charge, so I'm trying to find a company and also the prices, so I can tell the school how much I will be.

Ok . Is the school expecting any kind of "package deal" i.e. wallets, 4X5's, 8X10's ?

If they have had photos in the past, why are they changing photogs? Bad service, high prices, bad photos ? If you can sell them on value rather than price, you will be far ahead in the long run. If you sell at the lowest possible price, you will have a hard time to raise your prices later if needed to make a profit.

If they haven't had a photog in the past, sell the value, and offer the simplest package you can easily get. The KISS method works best (keep it simple stupid). I.E. one package, one price. Will you be providing the prints to the students, or do you want them to pick from an on line site and order their own ( a bad idea in my opinion ).

I would check out the vendors in the back of pro photo mags that can be found at big box booksellers, and figure out your costs vs. expenses. At least triple your costs for the packages. i.e. package A costs $3.95, you charge at least $12. This would assume a minimum amount of time spent at the shooting, and no post processing.

You can see how complicated this gets.
Find web sites of other photogs in your area and see if they list prices.
Don't try to be the lowest price on the block. Remember that some of these photogs might be going broke...

they are changing they have bad photos and a not so nice photographer. I work at the school and they seen my pictures in the yearbook or slideshows that I make for special programs, they being asking me since april to be the photographer but I wasn't sure, finally I accept.
Thank youTom for your wise advise, I'll ask how much they charge last year and what the package include, in the past the photographer provide the prints and the school want it that way.
