First time PP help

I just got my copy of Nikon Capture NX so I am giving my first real shot at editing some pictures. I really have very little idea of what to do other than play around with color levels sharpen, and reduce noise. I just spent a couple of minutes with this one picture, and I want to know what you would have done differently. I know that technically it isnt a great picture, because I missed the focus just a little bit and also the rope is blocking her face. Her mom loved it though so I wanted to edit it a bit and send her a copy. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I use Lightroom and not very familiar with Nikon Capture NX. But I'm sure there are some members that can offer you some help.
I played with the trial version before and I think you can also use the black, white & neutral control points to set dynamic range and fix color casts.
