Uncle - Please help with collage - 09-16-2007, 11:17 PM

So I'm trying to put together a collage of some baby images. I'm getting frustrated trying to find how to do this right. Working a full-time job, I just haven't been able to learn all the things I need to know in PS. Is there a good tutorial or templates that I can use to do this?

what kind of collage are you wanting? I'm pretty savvy at making storyboard templates if that's what you're after :)

well, I'm pretty unsavvy at putting any collage together. I'm looking for something that would be about 11x14 with white back ground and maybe 6 images of close ups of the babies face and where I could put some text at the bottom. I'd love a template but I'd also like to know HOW to do this

I'll come up with a tutorial tomorrow , if ya want. I can't promise it will make sense, since I have a cold :( But I'll try. :)

Do you want the photos to look as if they're behind the "mat" or on top of it? Do you want them to be evenly spaced or random? If you can tell me those two things, as well as what size the photos actually are, I can probably come up with something for you.

Collages are hard and require a lot of creativity. The hard part is planning the arrangement. Wny not do a google search on collage images and take some notes on the various arrangements you like. After you identify the features you like, take some paper sketch out what you think you want and go from there.

Just a thought.

Thanks everybody. I got a great tutorial that gives step by step instructions from Lucian. I think I can use it to get where I want to be. If anyone is interested in the tutorial, send me a PM and I'll give you the link. It is written in MSWorks I think and I had to download a converter to open it in Word.

Take a look at a software product called FotoFusion by Lumapix. It is very easy to use and can help create a collage in just minutes. Very customizable as well.
