Batch convert RAW to JPG in CS3? - 09-22-2007, 04:39 PM

I'm having a strange issue that I'm too dense to be able to figure out. I'm trying to convert an action or droplet that will allow me to batch a bunch of raw NEF files to jpeg--I just need some slight saturation boost--nothing too fancy.

I can create the action just fine, but when I try to run the batch, it always stops after ACR opens the first image. It won't move the file from the ACR window to the "regular" CS3 Window, and just sits there.

I've searched my ass off, but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Does anyone have a droplet/action already made that works? This should be easy.

Thanks!

Usually this is a problem with your batch settings. Do you have the appropriate overrides and suppressions checked in your batch processing window?

Like so.

In CS3 check out Files-scripts-image processor for converting.

You can run an action from it or set it to open the first RAW - you make your adjustments - then it will make the same adjustments to the rest of the RAWS

Thanks guys. After trying a few things, and searching around good old Russell Brown's stuff, I found this great tool. (Large .mov file)

I looked at that tool and thought it was interesting and effective. My process is to take ACR, convert one to a jpeg and save it in a new directory. From there, I select all of the remaining raw files and process them with the "use previous conversion" setting turned on. It takes about 6-8 seconds per RAW file, so if I have a large number of files, I go off and do something else for 20 minutes. It's not a fully automated process, but it works for me.
