Here's another shot for the same company I shoot doors for. In this one, the problem is obviously the nasty view. I know I want to replace it, but I'm wondering if I need to use a more believable background.

than angle of the background in the edited image is a little off and is making it not look very real.

have you tried to adjust the perspective angle of it?

James

I agree, I would alter the angle of the window. To my eye, the window seems to be leaning out (moving away) at the top.

I took your image and skewed the bottom of the image inward (as shown below). This may not yet match the perspective of the image you're laying this over, but I hope you see how it's done. I'm always happy to help, so let me know if you need any more assistance with it!

If you are getting paid for this... or want to.. :) and are going to do more of it...

Consider getting a tilt/shift lens.

the new background has the water coming into the building....
Someone (door company ?) should pop some $$ for curtains!

I went back and did this. Thanks for the tip! I'm still looking through my archives for a good shot to put in the window.

I am getting paid for this. We've done several jobs for this company, and they don't really ask for any photoshopping. I did it more out of my own need to be creative and as a challenge to myself to explore photoshop. Normally, the jobs are completed, and the pictures don't need this kind of help. This particular job was under construction, and we will be shooting it again when it's finished. They apparently want some shots for records and some for advertising.

I fixed the angle, and it really did help, so thanks again for that tip! I also used another picture, but it's still not a good one. I just can't find one! I'll try to shoot one for this particular use, I guess.

Yea, I'd shoot one on your own. Just take note of the pillar shadow-fall to roughly 7 o-clock on the tub and try to compose your own shot with correct shadow-fall. Also, I would believe this to be true, that horizons should always be parallel from a built/level structure. So in the case above you have the far-side of the lake shore off "kilter".

I'll try to remember that shadow. I'm surprised I couldn't find something in all my archives that would work.

I'm also thinking that the scale is wrong, look back at your original picture and eye ball the scale of the work under construction. Your image underlay should match the scale in that shot... I think you're going to eventually end up with what you want. This has been good for me too, a good learning experience.

Great point about the shadows Roy!

Yeah, the scale is really hard to match. I had a few pictures that would have worked if the grass just hadn't seemed to big. I will try taking a picture while pretending that I'm shooting out of the window. LOL
