Joey Lawrence - 10-15-2007, 06:30 PM

The now 17 year old Canadian prodigy is exploding into the commercial market. Now shooting ads and music videos all over the globe. For those of you interesed in his work he is offering a 2 hour dvd filled with actions, grunge brushes, lighting setups, behind the scenes footage, and more for $299 or $249 if you buy before the 21st. Those of you who haven't seen this kids work, he's truely remarkable and I suggest you check it out.

More info can be found in his blog, and a good interview can be seen on www.strobist.com

Enjoy,

BK

Yeah, the kid is amazing and unstoppable. He is constantly reinventing himself and moving forward. Brilliant stuff! Been watching his work for quite awhile. Def. let us know how the dvd is and if it's worth that much money. I'm sure it will be.

I've admired this guy for a while, I even sent him an email!
Then last night I found out he was 17... I couldn't sleep at all.
A little bit of envy and admiration kept me up.
I felt like a failure for not having a London/Paris agency covering me at 24!

I hate to say this dude, but if you don't have London/Paris agency covering you by the time your 24, then you are a loser.

Man, the kid has come a long way since I first saw his so so/average shots on dpchallenge (which were mostly better than my junk) , back in 2004. Then to see his work take a huge upward spiral in a very short time was just amazing.

to see some of his old work check out his dpchallenge profile and go to pages 14 & 15

He's going to be in Dallas speaking at DPPA in January. That should be good!

Hope I can make this one. I TOTALLY meant to go to the Michael Grecco one next week, but went and bought Mavs tickets to take my dad. Oh well.. Glad to hear JL is coming too...

Wow, I will definitely be going to that one. Hopefully, someone on here will post a reminder closer to the date. Very cool!

OK, I looked at some of his stuff, and I'm just not seeing anything special. Am I missing something here?

Go see Michael Grecco on Tuesday if you can.. He is a very accomplished photog. I love his books too. Complicated light setups that I'd never see myself using, but I think he could be interesting to hear speak.

Yes.

His Post Processing is something pretty unique (if you like this type of style). It's more animated than normal still life. I'd like to hear him talk about the technique and the clients that demand this sort of work. For me, it's nice to see DPPA have speakers that are not just the average Joe studio photographer.. Although they shed some good info from time to time, I enjoy hearing from people that are leaps and bounds ahead of myself in this business.

I would love to go to that, too, but I have to move next week and trying to get packed up. I think, since I don't do studio lighting right now, he might be too advanced for me on that sort of stuff.

I think a lot of Grecco's are on location, but he stresses that he has a crew around him to make the "magic". Good luck with the move!

Thanks! Let me know how the meeting went with Grecco. At some point, I def. want to learn on location lighting, but I need to get some lights, first.
