Bridge wont sort Canon and Nikon Raws together?? - 10-24-2007, 09:38 AM

Had a second shooter this weekend and he shoots Nikon. Everything is ok except when I try to sort the 2 different file formats Adobe Bridge will not sort them into correct time order. Is there a fix for this?

Yes, sort by date created and they will fall right in line. I do it all the time when I shoot with Canon folks.

That is exactly what I thought but it isnt working. It sorts them by date created but seperates them by file type. All the NEF files are sorted and the CR2's are sorted but not combined. Sort of a big pain in the A$$. Any glitches that might cause this?

I thought about that but the times are right. They even display in am & pm. Would the display time be different from something that might be stored in the EXIF data? Doesnt seem possible.

I am thinking about downloading the trial of Breeze Browser Pro to see if it will run the sort. I am tired of wasting my time on getting this in order.

Any other ideas please post them as I would really like to get this working so it isnt an issue in the future.

I've had second shooters' files that were a year off. Double check it.

Take a step back and go in explore the folder where the RAW files are located. Set view to details. It should give you a wider view of what you might be missing. Try toggling between file type, file name and creation date to see if anything looks funny. Not the answer you're looking for but I hope that helps.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Make sure it's not "by file date created" but "by image date". If you did it "by file date created" accidentally, you would definitely see the list as you said; "all the NEF files are sorted and the CR2's are sorted but not combined". You can sort of verify this if you remember which set of files you copied first. If you did the Canon files first, and they are first in your list, that's a pretty good indicator that you sorted "by file date created."

I don't know bridge well enough to tell you exactly where the "by image date" option is, but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Well, it is the year that is the culprit from the second. I would assume there is a way to alter it but I dont know the process since I am in virgin territory here. I will do a search but if anyone wants to jump in and let me know please do so.

Thanks

There is away to do it using Breezebrowser, I remember seeing the tutorial but don't recall exactly where. It may have been in the software itself. Download the trial and go to the tutorial. I'm about to buy it, I've found it to be great.

I downloaded the trial for Breezebrowser pro and it was VERY simple. Just had to select the shots that needed the update and then hit the tool bar and there is an option to adjust the exif date and time. The program made it very simple. To bad Bridge doesnt have similar scripting.

Thanks for all of the brainstorming everyone did. I wasnt even paying attention to the year.
