ok... when i first got my canon d 60 a looong time ago ... i would take pictures use the image download program that came with the camera and do that and then when i would open up the photos in adobe photoshop the image would be like 42.something x 28. something inches.... and a couple of weeks ago i just noticed that when i do the same thing and open them up in photoshop they are only 17.something x 14.something inches.... whats up with that? i have it on the largest file size that it can go besides raw... i've never shot raw.... anyone have any ideas what it might be?

thanks

The missing number is the resolution. Your cameras sensor is 3072x2048 pixels. When you were seeing 42x28 inches it would have been at 72 pixels to the inch (3072/72= about 42)

When you are seeing 17x14 you looking at about 180ppi.

They are both identical file sizes, just a different scale. You can play with this in PS in "image size" Play with the sizes with Resample Image unchcked
