more lightroom weirdness - please take a look - 11-07-2007, 08:49 PM

hi there - it's me again - with the same old images...but...

two links - one exported from lightroom - color was WAY off from what i was seeing on my develop screen.

http://www.onemorerainyday.com/weddi...t/index_2.html

second link - the exported jpgs, resized in acdsee - and uploaded to zenfolio...

http://greyalofus.zenfolio.com/p121477388/

now am i crazy? or do these two sets of photos look entirely different?

thanks for any replies...

I'm not able to check the EXIF info on the first link, but I was able to via the zenfolio site. I noticed that you're uploading (and exporting) these jpg's as Adobe RGB.

If you're using lightroom to export your images and they're going to be used as web images, it's recommended that you export them as sRGB. You'll see that option when you hit the export box.

This will solve your color dilemma. Feel free to research on the how's and why's using sRGB is a good idea over AdobeRGB when it comes to web display images.

Hope this helps.

Edit: I just realized you're using acdsee to resize the exported images and resaving them. First check to see that you are indeed exporting in sRGB in lightroom, and make sure that acdsee is saving them in sRGB as well when you re-save it. Color space and color profiles can always be a confusing mess, but to keep it simple.. export em in sRGB for web use.

Ditto to above.

Looks like colorspace issue to me too.

Sorry to jump in here, but I've been wondering about this lately..

sRGB for best web viewing...? what about printing? export as ProfotoRGB?

Depends on your lab... or your printer. With my lab (WHCC) they take both sRGB and AdobeRGB. For home on my Epson R2400, I use Pro Photo RGB... It has a bigger gamut and the printer seems to handle it very well.

the last stop for the photos IS for printing - more than likely at millers. the web images are really just soft proofing - which i'm guessing lightroom cannot give me a true representation of the color correction and white balance that i'm making to the actual images. bummer - cause it's nice to be able to upload them direcly from the program.

thanks guys!

Odd.. I use Lightroom constantly and what I see is what I get both on web and in print. At least for me, Lightroom is giving me a true representation of everything.

sRGB is what you need to use for web proofing. AdobeRGB will look different in a web browser color-wise and is typically not accurate depending on the browser. Miller's will convert your files and/or color correct prior to printing if so desired.

Janet,

Same thing happend to me. If you check my post in the Human Form Section (Julia from SanAntonio) you can see how it makes a difference.

The input from the forum is great because I was having trouble finding the problem.

Looks like Lightroom defaults to AdobeRGB.
