Need your advice!

#2 image - my eyes go first to the frame. It's almost as if the frame is competing with the flower.
#1 - my eyes go directly to the flower in focus.

So, for me it's #1.

And, very stunning image.

I am just the opposite. The white frame is where my eye goes first.
The black frame cause you to stay inside the frame.

You know your wildflowers! This one was with hundreds of others in an open field at Texas A&M in April. The mowers had been through the field and these had sprung up afterwards. These winecups are not much larger than the first knuckle of my thumb. I was lying on my belly to shoot these.
