Stripping Exif - 12-04-2007, 08:27 PM

Anyone know the quickest, easiest way to strip exif from hi-res files? I've sold hi-res files from a wedding, but am planning on stripping out everything but the IPTC tags with our info.

Suggestions?

save for web still leaves some stuff in mine that keeps my zune from recognizing the files. I've found that I can use the IRFANVIEW program to run a quick batch and it totally strips all info from the jpgs (you have to go into the jpg options and deselect everything first though)

Yeah, but that gives the little pop-up that the file is too big... Haven't played with it yet - can I just ignore it? Will it stop every image I run through an action if I batch 'em?

Sorry... I could probably go play around and get it figured out in a few minutes, but I thought someone may do this all the time.

Thanks!

Thanks Mel! I use irfan as my default jpg viewer, but I haven't used it for much else. Didn't even realize that it had batch capability... Thanks guys!

Actually, I use Lightroom to export anything these days. I actually leave my EXIF data in mine, so it hasn't been something that I had concerned myself with (although in LR, you can setup your metadata however you want prior to exporting I believe). For what you're wanting to accomplish, probably something like Infraview (noted above) may be a more straight forward way.

Be CAREFUL:

Code:
#!/bin/sh

images=`find . -type f -iregex ".*\.jpg"`

i=0
while [ $i -lt ${#images[@]} ]
do
  chmod 644 ${images[$i]}
  jhead -purejpg -exonly ${images[$i]}
  let "i += 1"
done

see? some things can be really simple.

Does batch processing using Irfan re-save the files, making them more lossy?
