220 Film / Expired film / Buy Online? - 12-08-2007, 10:16 PM

OK...

I have a bronica 645 camera that I've been wanting to use for a while now... I'm going to put down my digital camera for a little while and pick up the medium format... However, I cannot find anywhere around here that sells 220 film... Does anyone recommend buying film online? If so, from where?

Also, I want to find some expired film that I can play around with... 220 or 35mm will work... any suggestions?

Scott

For buying online - try Calumet, B&H, or Freestyle. As to out-of-date, I don't know where you'd get that online except Ebay, and then you'd probably have to pay more than fresh film.

220 is only available in a few color emulsions. In B&W, I think it's limited to Tri-X 320 (TXP). Also, Kodak only sells it in 5 packs. I don't know about Fuji. If your Bronica takes 120 film, I would suggest just using that.

Cheers

Post on freecycle, too. I bet you can get a bunch of expired film that way.

I think i have a half dozen rolls of 120 around here somewhere. If you can use that, i'll dig it out and you're welcome to it.

I've about used all my out of date Fuji film, only one roll gave some wierd colors. I can save you a roll of Fuji NPZ 120 ISO 800 with a date of 2006. We'll be going to Tyler right after Christmas, you can come over and get it there. I shot a roll of 160 dated for 2005 at the rose gargens there over Thanksgiving and they turned out fine. The only thing that would have made them better would be if I had a macro lens for the camera. I also use a Bronica ETRSI, and am certainly enjoying it.

Hey Scott, I probably have 40+ rolls of 120 and 220 in my freezer. Send me ten bucks for S&H and it's yours. You can get my address from my website.

WOW! Scott, I think you've scored an offer from three people to give you film.

When y'all are through supplying him, if you've got any B&W left over, anybody wanna give me free film.

paper ...

chemistry ...

Wow -- I wish I would have thought of asking if anybody had any film they wanted to get rid of!

If Scott doesn't take any of you up on the offer, I would be happy to fill in for the donation space -- I will even write you a receipt as a donation to a charitable cause

Hey Scott, if the film has been in the fridge or frezer, remember to take it out ahead of time so it can aclimate to room temp before opening the packages.3-4 hours for the fridge, probably overnight for the freezer.
