This is just a quick and dirty extraction in CS3. Select the magic marker looking tip on the tool bar. You just outline the part of the image you want by drawing your brush around it. Go to the little bucket under the magic marker looking tip in the tool bar, and select the inside or outside of the line, depending on which you want to keep.

As you see here, the green reflection of the original background causes a problem. You will have to deal with that, in some cases. As well, fine areas, like hair, can give you problems to deal with.

Also, shadows can still show up. The width of the brush you use makes a difference. The extraction is selecting between densities. So, if you have a brush that covers the clothing, the shadow, and the background, there are 3 distinctions there. So, the shadow may still show, to some degree.

Also, if you are using a tablet, pen pressure can make a difference in how clean the extraction is, in some spots. If you ease up on the pressure, you may get a "smudged" area in places, leaving a bit of "trash" on the edge of your subject.

Give it a shot. It ain't rocket surgery.

Looking at it here, I see I was a little careless on her fingers. If so, it is no big deal to redo it.
